Benefits to preschool age, affordability shows struggles with an entire day garden
As the school ends summer starts, families are busy making beach plans, backyard barbecues and getaways this weekend.
But for some, especially those with young children, summer will be spent saving money to pay the bill for kindergarten next year.
In Georgetown, as an example, the fee of the garden rises, along with several others.
"With reluctance, the school committee and I have approved increasing fees for some of our programs, including Perley's Kindergarten, Preley Plan before and after school, Brooke Brooks's day of retirement, including professional development days and Penn Brook's enrichment program." Town wrote in a letter to parents this week. "Unfortunately, this increase is necessary as spending for the program has gone up and incomes are not careful about what we need to run the programs." We have tried not to increase fees every year as other programs do because of the burden it puts on families, but we want to continue to offer the programs so that the fee increase is needed at this stage. "
