Husker bye week a popular wedding weekend

Some fans joke that, you don't schedule a wedding during a Husker football game and there's some truth to it. A Husker bye week isn't just a popular date, it's perhaps the busiest weekend on the calendar.

When it comes to weddings, there's no harder date to book than the Husker bye weekend.

"I've been doing this for ten years. That's the very first one. When January comes out, boom it's booked. My husband's got me a list, where every three weeks, I know when the bye week is happening," said Misti Williams, owner of Full Circle Venue.

Williams said most wedding receptions are reserved a year in advanced, unless it's the bye weekend. That date is typically booked 18 months out.

"We've turned away birthday parties, anniversary parties… anything that you can think of," said Williams.

Reception areas aren't the only spots that see the uptick in business. Over at Roses for You, they have orders for seven different weddings this weekend.

"It starts three months in advance ordering all of the flowers and stuff ahead of time. When we have this many events, anything that we can set up earlier in the week, we try to do that. It's an all week process," said Andy Znamenacek, owner.

That commitment to cheering on Big Red comes at no surprise for vendors, even if it means putting those wedding vows on hold for the bye.

"With my husband being a football fan with everyone else in the state, You just know that know that's going to be the first one they take," said Williams.

"Nebraska fan. Everyone is a Husker fan, whether they're winning or losing," said Znamenacek.Read more at:wedding gowns melbourne | www.sheindressau.com
